Brown trout season closes

We have been busy transferring fish.

The brown trout season closes at midnight on Sunday 3 May. With the season ending and the waters closed by land managers due to Covid-19 there are very few locations that will remain open to fishing. After Sunday you can still fish at Huntsman Lake and Craigbourne Dam along with the sections of rivers that remain open for the season extension trial. The trial areas open are the lower reaches of the Meander, South Esk and Macquarie rivers. You can monitor fishing opportunities in relation to the Covid-19 situation as restrictions change.

Despite the limited fishing opportunities we have been busy transferring trout to popular waters in preparation for the coming season. You can follow these transfers by going to our stocking page or the regular updates on Instagram @troutfishtasmania
