Message from Hydro Tasmania - Brady's Chain of Lakes

The Hydro Tasmania logo

In February 2024, Hydro Tasmania needs to undertake some Aboriginal heritage surveys and technical infrastructure tests at Bradys Lake. These works are related a project we’re in the early stages of planning – you can find out more about what’s proposed by visiting https://connect.hydro.com.au/bronte-bradys

The water level will be lowered 4.57 m below Full Supply Level – which will bring the lake down to its minimum operating level. This means the lake will be considerably lower than normal. The proposed draw down schedule is:

  • 10 – 17 Feb – lake goes down
  • 18 – 22 Feb – lake held down 4.57m
  • 23 – 29 Feb – lake refilled

This change will also affect water levels in Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon.

Access to the lakes will remain open through the Regatta Day long weekend, however, after 13 February, boat ramps may not be useable, and we discourage access until after 29 February, as changing conditions can present additional hazards.

We understand that this work may be disruptive, and we apologise for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns about what is planned, please contact me to discuss.
